The concept is from a very famous Cantonese song “彩雲追月” (Rosy Clouds Chasing The Moon), based on the melody composed in 1935, Shanghai, China, by 任光 (上海百代唱片公司), depicting the intoxicatingly picturesque night sky. It is also the melody for the Japanese song released in 1942, 南の花嫁さん (Minamino hanayomesan).
Teresa Teng’s Mandarin version was sung in the mid 1960’s. It is about being lovesick thinking of the sweetheart who has failed to show up, remembering flowers falling on that same day of one particular year when they met, and delivering that disappointment by fallen flowers on the river to that special someone.
